Fees for Motoring Offences

The SRA Transparency Rules 2018 require authorised firms to publish costs information about the provision of certain services. This applies to representation at the Magistrates’ Court in relation to summary only motoring offences under Part I of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and s89 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

We can offer fixed fees to represent you for most types of motoring offences that are heard in the Magistrates Court. We have set out below a guide to our fixed fees which are based on your matter being dealt with at a single hearing. If further hearings are necessary to resolve your case, then additional fees will be payable, but we will advise you on the likelihood and costs of this.

Trials in the Magistrates Court that will exceed half a day, Special Reasons hearings, and all Crown Court matters will be charged by our usual hourly rates and we will happily provide an estimate of your fees dependant on your individual case and circumstances.

The below is for all cases that are heard at Magistrates’ Courts within the M25. If your matter will be heard outside the M25 then you will be charged travel time at your representative’s hourly rate.

20% VAT will be added to all the below fixed fees.

  • Advising on likely sentence

  • Representation/advocacy at a single hearing in the Magistrates Court (additional travel costs & disbursements if the Court  hearing the matter is outside of London/M25)

The above fees do not include:

  • Instructing an expert witness

  • Testing of samples

  • Advice and assistance in relation to a special reasons hearing

  • Advice on appeal

Timescales

Timescales of hearing dates are provided by the court. How long we spend at Court is entirely dependent on the Court listing, other cases in the Court list and the complexity of your case.

Hourly rates

Our hourly rates range from £200 - £395 per hour depending on the level of experience of your representative.
